Dota 2 is a 2013 multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) video game by Valve. The game is a sequel to Defense of the Ancients (DotA), a community-created mod for Blizzard Entertainment's Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos. Dota 2 is played in matches between two teams of five players, with each team occupying and defending their own separate base on the map. Each of the ten players independently controls a character known as a hero that has unique abilities and differing styles of play. During a match, players collect experience points (XP) and items for their heroes to defeat the opposing team's heroes in player versus player (PvP) combat. A team wins by being the first to destroy the other team's Ancient, a large durable structure located in the center of each base.

Runs well on modern hardware.

Well… what can I even say about Dota 2? I’ve played this game for over 9000 hours, and I’ll probably play for 9000 more. I’ve met some of the best people here, and also some of the absolute worst. Figuring out which is which adds its own little surprise mechanic outside the actual game xD Sometimes this game gets so addictive that I play for 30–40 hours straight, then suddenly realize I’m completely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ up my life, uninstall it, and reinstall it again a week later because no other game comes close to challenging my brain, patience, coordination, and split-second decision making like this one does. Dota became more than just a game for me a long time ago. It’s like this weird personal fantasy world I escape into. Sometimes I come here when life is going badly, sometimes I come here to celebrate when life is going well. I’m also kind of an introvert IRL. I don’t fake socialize just for the sake of it, so sometimes when my friends are online, I’ll literally just sit in Discord, watch them play, and listen to the background conversations. Somehow that feels like socializing to me. I’ve played this game while happy, frustrated, depressed, angry, motivated — every possible emotional state. Sometimes I spread positive vibes all game, sometimes I wanna grief my teammates because I’m tilted at life itself. My teammates and enemies have definitely paid the price for whatever emotional state I was in that day lmao. Playing with a good group can be one of the most fun experiences ever… and also one of the most annoying. Sometimes your friends play like complete noobs, give unsolicited advice, or try to micromanage your hero like they’re playing the game for you. Honestly, playing Dota is basically like being in a marriage. Sometimes toxic. Sometimes amazing. Sometimes frustrating. Sometimes the best thing in your life. It’s this weird love/hate toxic/amazing relationship. Sometimes I feel like queueing solo anonymously so I can do whatever the ♥♥♥♥ I want with zero consequences. Other times I just wanna stack with a huge group, mess around, socialize, and have fun together. Then sometimes 5v5 lobbies become so tryhard that people start getting tilted and stop having fun entirely. Dota is basically life in game form. Very fun, very hard, sometimes toxic, sometimes beautiful, but always exciting. I honestly don’t know if I would recommend this game to anyone. But if someone asked me what the best game I’ve ever played is? Dota will probably always be at the top of the list. This game has seen every version of me, and I’ve seen every version of other people through it too. It’s hard to explain. Kinda like life itself lol.
The behavior score system is completely broken. After 15 games without receiving a single report, I only gained +280 behavior score. But after getting 9 reports in just 2 games — including 5 reports from a full enemy stack — I received a low priority penalty and lost -1200 score. At this point, it feels less like a game and more like a report-abuse simulator. Players are forced to grind endlessly for tiny behavior score gains, while coordinated reports instantly destroy your progress. Meanwhile, account buyers, smurfs, and cheaters can freely play on 12k behavior score accounts because they do not care if the account gets ruined or banned. The current system punishes normal players far more than actual offenders.
